Cape Town
Cape Town is a relaxed, vibrant city surrounded by mountains, beaches and the ocean. There is plenty to see and do, but we recommend leaving some room in your itinerary for long lunches, beach afternoons and exploring at your own pace.
The Beaches
Clifton Beach
One of Cape Town’s most beautiful and iconic beaches. A must while you’re here.
Beta Beach
A smaller, more relaxed beach with beautiful views and a local feel.
Saunders Rock
A great spot for a swim, a quiet afternoon or sunset by the water.
The Atlantic Ocean is famously cold, but well worth braving.
The Classics
Table Mountain
One of Cape Town’s defining landmarks. If you’re feeling active, hiking to the top is a great way to spend the day. Alternatively, take the cable car and enjoy the views without the climb.
Lion's Head
A favourite Cape Town walk with incredible views across the city, coastline and Table Mountain. We recommend heading out early to avoid the heat and crowds.
Boulders Beach
Home to Cape Town’s famous African penguin colony and well worth the trip.
Food & Drink
Cape Town
Cape Town has an exceptional food and wine scene, with everything from relaxed neighbourhood spots and food markets to destination restaurants and beautiful wine estates.
The Codfather
A local favourite for sushi and seafood and one of Casey’s must-visits whenever she’s in Cape Town.
We’ll share more restaurant and bar recommendations closer to the wedding.
Wine Country
Stellenbosch & Franschhoek
The Cape Winelands are some of the most beautiful parts of South Africa, with vineyards, mountain scenery, restaurants and historic estates throughout the region.
If you have time, we highly recommend spending a few days exploring the area.
Babylonstoren
Safari
A beautiful wine estate with gardens, restaurants, a spa and farm store. It’s well worth a visit if you have time.
If you can fit a safari into your trip, we highly recommend it. Seeing the wildlife and landscapes of South Africa in person is an unforgettable experience.
Getting Around
If you’re arriving early, we’ll be making the most of Cape Town before the formal celebrations begin.
Getting around Cape Town is easy, with Uber, taxis and private drivers readily available.
If you’re planning to explore further afield, hiring a car can also be a great option.
A Note on Safety
Cape Town is a popular international destination and, like any major city, it’s important to stay aware of your surroundings and use common sense.
The areas where we’ll be staying and spending most of our time are popular with visitors. Take sensible precautions, particularly at night, and you’ll be well placed to enjoy the city.
